PROJECT
Groynes
Is a photo series dedicated to the engineering constructions that were built to protect coastal area of the Krasnodar region (Russia) from storms.
А large number of these standard constructions are now in various conditions (technically and visually) and are used by local residents and tourists in various ways.
The pictures show how a human changes the environment according to one’s goals and circumstances. And how each of these identical structures becomes a unique protector of people from the forces of nature.
People experience a lot of stress. Wars and violence, financial instability and unemployment, poverty and hunger. The sea gives a person peace and tranquility. The opportunity to be alone or to spend some time with family. To read a book or to play ball with friends. To meet the sunset or the sunrise. The sea is one of the few places where one still can experience a feeling of pure happiness.
This is a series of Instax photographs that highlight the value of a single, tangible moment. In the digital age, we take countless high-quality images—but often forget the feeling behind them. Photos are stored, uploaded, and rarely revisited. With instant film, each shot is intentional. You hold the memory in your hands just seconds after capturing it. It’s not just an image—it's an experience, preserved in a physical form.
